Facebook has announced that, it has figured out that now there are about 83 million fake accounts on the social network. In company feelings published this week’s it pointed out that more or less 8.7% of its 955 million active accounts bust its rules.
Even already registered users have 4.8% duplicate accounts. Some profiles are created for businesses or for their pets which is about 2.4% and some of them are classified as undesirable. These are in violation of Facebook rules.
According to Facebook, duplicate accounts are those accounts which are not monitored by the actual person or impersonated by someone else. It is also seen that many of the users has such account along with his personal account. Some users create their accounts for their fan pages, business or for his organization.
Some are using accounts by using fake name and these accounts are making spam which violets Facebook’s terms and services.
A BBC investigation is done in last month on this fact and it is seen that in developing countries like Indonesia, Bangladesh Facebook is enjoying fast growth. Taking this into concern Facebook is giving their attention to this fact.
