Yesterday, Mozilla introduced the very first phones running on the Firefox OS. Two smart phones- Keon and Peak; were showcased providing the exclusive preview of the highly anticipated Firefox OS. Via a blog post, Mozilla announced the preview and asked the developers to pitch in.
Together, GeeksPhone and Telefonica have developed the phones.
As Mozilla says, the Keon is a large and versatile device with amazing power. It offers 3.5 inch touch display, 4 GB internal storage, 512 MB RAM and a 3 megapixel camera. Also supports MicroSD, MicroUSB, connects via Wi-Fi, GPS and all the other usual features. The processor is a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 and an 1800 mAh battery supplies the power.
The Peak is powerful. It has a larger ‘qHD IPS’ screen measuring 4.3 inch. It has two cameras- an 8 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front camera. It comes with a built in storage of 4 GB and also expandable by inserting MicroSD card. GPS, Wi-Fi and other standard options are available for connectivity. The phone’s brain is a1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with 512 MB RAM. An 1800 mAh battery powers the phone.
Both of these phones are prototypes for preview and have limitations. The price is not settled yet. Users who want to check out the new OS can do so by using the ‘Firefox OS Simulator’ or install the OS on their devices.
