Western Digital Compact TV Media BoxWestern Digital is ready to take on Apple for the compact TV media player business as the company most recently released its TV box priced at only $69.99.

‘WD TV Play’ will let subscribers to access contents from popular online sites like Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Spotify, Hulu Plus and more. One of the biggest advantages the users will receive is to be able to play their personal contents accessing any USB storage device. To share contents, ‘WD TV Play’ will use industry standard protocols for enabling access to files stored in computers linked through the same network.

‘WD TV Play’ can play full HD videos and also offers 1 USB port, Ethernet port, built in Wi-Fi, 1 HDMI port, optical audio output and composite video output. Also casual gaming and RSS feeds are in order. A remote control is provided with and also smart phones can be used for the same purpose using specific apps.
