Lately, rumors about a sixth addition of the Assassin’s Creed series were floating around rapidly on the internet. Those rumors have now been confirmed by Ubisoft and they officially announced the game. The game is named “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”.
Though, the game was announced by Ubisoft on Thursday, no other details were given away. Ubisoft had been forced into announcing the game earlier than they planned, due to early leaks on the internet. A preview of the game cover suggested a link to pirates and ship-warfare. Whether this is a positive step by Ubisoft or not, can only be decided once the game is released. Full details of the game will be announced on Monday, 4th of March. Ubisoft has also launched a countdown site, viewable here.
Rumors suggest that the game will be set in the Caribbean, with trips to Islands such as Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas. Another news floating around stated that the main character of the game will by the Edward Kenway, father to Haytham Kenway from the last assassin’s creed. In the last game, Edward Kenway is portrayed as a privateer, killer and sporadic pirate.
The game is said to be released on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. The PS3 version will feature 60 minutes of additional, exclusive gameplay, stated Ubisoft. Furthermore, the game may also be released on next-generation consoles such as the PS4, state internet rumors. The release of the game itself is expected near late 2013.
The reception of the game is shaky, as a sixth release, the series tend to be getting redundant, but nothing less than the last game, “Assassin’s Creed III”, can be expected from this game. Assassin’s creed III alone sold 12 million copies. All in all, the game is much awaited!
