iFixit Tablet Repairability Ranking: Dell XPS 10 Ranked No. 1

Dell XPS 10 Last year, after unscrewing, ungluing and reviewing hundreds of tablet computers, people at iFixit have published the tablet reparability ranking and Dell’s XPS 10 has grabbed the no. 1 spot.

This handy ranking by iFixit will let you know the events you’re going to face while changing the battery pack of your Google Nexus 7 or the number of screws you’d have to deal with while opening up the ‘Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch’.

iFixit declared the Dell XPS 10 as the device with the least hassle to disassemble and repair, giving the XPS 10, a 9 out of 10 on their reparability score. This 10 inch tablet running the Windows RT has one of the most efficient and longest running battery packs.

4 other tablets, Dell Streak, Amazon Kindle Fire, Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) were able to obtain a close 8.

Analysis reports by iFixit say that the Dell XPS 10 is quite modular featuring a clean design and efficient utilization of ZIF connectors. On the negative side, repairing the LCD display is a little tricky.

On the other hand, Microsoft’s Surface Pro is the most troublesome to handle. Surface Pro scored only 1 point.
