Contrasting displaysAccording to DisplaySearch, a worldwide market consulting and research firm focused on the touch screen display supply chain, another wave of updated iPad mini should be expected in the 3rd quarter or by the early 4th quarter of 2013. But before that, another super high resolution screen with the brand new Nexus 7 will get to make its mark.

An analyst with DisplaySearch, Paul Semenza told CNET that speculations suggest that the new iPad mini will boast 1536 * 2048 pixels of resolution along with 324ppi of pixel density. The iPad mini is scheduled to go for manufacturing in the 3rd quarter which brings us to an estimated release in the 4th quarter.

The real challenge is fitting the Retina display into the 7.2mm chassis of iPad mini and this move can short list a few names like Japan Display, LG Display, Sharp and AUO that could mark the same quality with the above mentioned challenges.

The current offers a Retina display with a massive resolution marking 768 * 1024 pixels and also, a pixel density of 163ppi.  Semenza’s predictions also indicates that the release of hugely updated Nexus 7 tab boasting a 1200 * 1920 pixel display will start manufacturing in the 2nd quarter and will be released in the 3rd quarter. This new display will give Apple’s Retina a tough run.
