Nintendo Decides To Cut Out On Wii Channels

Nintendo recently announced that six of its Wii channels are to be shut down by late June. These include the Forecast Channel, News Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, Nintendo Channel and the Check Mii Out Channel. Moreover, data exchange on WiiConnect 24 has also been cut off now along with Wii message boards on the Mii Channels. However,, the Wii Shop channel will not be discontinued ― an automatic relief for Nintendo console lovers. This decision was based on two reasons; one being a “low participation rate” on these forums, explained a Nintendo representative.

The second reason given for the discontinuation is Nintendo’s promise to focus on better service quality. Most fans have now found their way to access games through the Wii U menu.

Understanding the fans’ plight, the firm seemed to be extremely apologetic while releasing the news. It said “We at Nintendo sincerely thank you for your continued patronage of our company’s products. We apologize to those of you who’re using these services.”

Although this change was made to bring in new material and oust  the outdated one, Nintendo is yet to release high-quality alternatives in compensation to the channels. However, most critics have suggested that it is not the best time to buy a Nintendo Wii, given the fact that it does not have most of its channels and has not yet released anything new. Nintendo’s focus on the Wii U is clear now, and gamers can only hope for it to be improved such that they do not feel Wii’s absence.
