No “Curve-iness” for iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5

Anonymous sources have leaked information to the Korea Herald, that the latest iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 would not be featuring flexible or curved screens. Due to limited capacity for flexible panels in the Galaxy S5, Samsung and LG Display are finding it difficult to produce enough screens for the existing Curved phones. According to the Herald, Samsung will reveal the curved phones next year as Galaxy model rather than a front runner model.

Analysts also revealed that Apple is also finding it difficult to opt for the curved OLED this year and is also set to release the curved phone in 2015. As LG and Samsung Display are the sole producers of the curved display, they are finding it difficult to meet the demands of both Samsung and iPhone.

Recent statistics reveal the declining demand of the curved phones as Samsung was only able to sale 10,000 Galaxy Rounds since the launch of the phone in the early October. Along with that, LG Flex, the other curved smartphone is also facing the trouble of slower sales.

According to Dominic Sunnebo, a global consumer insight director, the main reason of the slower sales of the curved phones would be the consumers not being informed about the benefits of the curved phones. In order to boost up the sales, both companies have to convince the consumers as to why should they buy a curved phone by giving them proper logical reasoning.
