Tapulous CEO Remains After Acquisition By Walt Disney

TAP TAP RevengeThe Walt Disney Co. yesterday declared about its recent acquisition of Tapulous, the creator of one of the most popular iPhone play-along music game TapTap Revenge, to strengthen its capacity to design mobile games and expand their presence in Silicon Valley.

According to Steve Wadsworth, president of Disney Interactive Media Group, this strategic move definitely highlights the value they put on mobile. Initially they will be more focused in making games for Apple Inc.’s devices including iPhone, iPad and other promising mobile platforms as well.

Already Tapulous has over 30 million users on Apple platforms with games like Tap Tap Revenge, for which it has created the new versions with artists such as Metallica, Coldplay, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. A new game which is called Riddim Ribbon features The Black Eyed Peas.

Tapulous Inc.’s small staff will still be working at the company’s headquarters in Palo Alto.  Wadsworth says is a big advantage because the office is located in high-tech developer community near San Francisco. Disney also have their Pixar Animation Studios around Emeryville.Disney and Tapulous

Tapulous founder and CEO Bart Decrem and the Chief Operating Officer Andrew Lacy will carry out mobile business development responsibilities at Disney as a part of the deal, Wadsworth confirmed.

Disney as a successful creator in mobile applications recorded above a million downloads of such apps as Alice in Wonderland Lite and JellyCar2. On Thursday, in addition to this Disney also introduced an iPad app for viewing and buying latest and classic Disney movies.
