Angry Birds Game Developer Raised $42 Million

Have you ever thought that a mobile game which is based on a group of moaner birds and weird pigs could turn out to be such a profitable franchise?

The Finnish game company Rovio Mobile, who developed Angry Birds, has earned around $42 million in a financing round directed by the eminent venture capital firms Accel Partners and Atomico Ventures. Another firm called Felicis Ventures was also present in the round.

The co-founder of Skype and Atomic Ventures, Niklas Zennstrom is joining Rovio’s board. On Thursday he told in an official meeting that, Angry Birds is one of the fastest-growing online products at the present scenario. It is rising even faster than Skype. In the past few years the company has done remarkably well in extending its services across diverse platforms and products.

The game angry Bird was launched on iPhones during late 2009, and currently the game has become so popular that it encompasses over 40 million active users.
