Microsoft Windows 8, the next gen OS is expected to release in 2012 for Tablets. This essentially means that we cannot expect a Windows 8 Tablet any sooner. From the roadmap leak, it is clear that Windows 8 Beta version will be released at the end of this year 2011. The 2012 release of Windows 8 is not surprising and infact, Microsoft has always maintained a specific time period between successive Operating System release. So by 2012, it will be the 3rd Anniversary of Windows 7 and most probably that is the year when Microsoft might enter into the Tablet market with Windows 8.
The new Windows 8 is going to come first to the Tablets and hence it will support a lot of touch gestures and other touch related functionalities. This is the only way by which Microsoft can compete with Apple and Google in the mobile tablets. Microsoft is yet to answer a product for Apple’s iPad and this version of Windows 8 could be the starting point for the company’s fortune.
