Acer Iconia A100 tablet & Iconia Smart Handset Release Delayed

Acer Iconia A100 tablet & Iconia Smart HandsetA report has been published in Digitimes which states, consumers willing to get Honeycomb in a bite-sized package will have to wait a little more. Acer recently confirmed the delay of their 7-inch Iconia A100 tablet, which was formerly slated for a May/June launch. That release date has been postponed to a possibly August/September. The reason behind this delay as reported by Industry sources is mentioned due to the incompatibility between the 7-inch display screen size of A100 tablet and the Honeycomb UI, which was created for bigger 10-inch display screens. With Google’s present focus in other places, Acer is perhaps waiting for a updated version of Android 3.0 optimized for a little smaller screens.

Besides that the Acer Iconia Smart, the 5-inch smartphone is also delayed which was originally planned to launch this month. Component supply deficiency caused by the Japanese earthquake is the main reason here. A new estimated release is set for July.
