Google’s Realtime Feature Suspended

If you tried accessing the Realtime feature of Google lately then you might have seen a 404 error that occurred.  The error which read “The requested URL /realtime?hl=en&tab=wY was not found on this server. That’s all we know.” This started last July 3 and until now is still offline.

Google Realtime

A lot of people assumed at first that this was a temporary glitch but two days after being offline man people are now puzzled about it. The real reason behind this is that Google’s access to Twitter’s public feeds, called the firehose expired already. The company is said to have stopped their Realtime feature and instead concentrate more on their own Google+ service.

A representative from Google was quoted as saying “Our vision is to have google.com/realtime include Google+ information along with other realtime data from a variety of sources”.

Twitter on the other hand said that they were still willing to work with Google on other projects.
