So what does this update mean for Motorola users? Well, an unlocked bootloader and an updated Google Talk with video chatting which is limited to Wi-Fi are the primary updates. Before making the Android update, its all safe to make a backup of all your files on the phone. Users also must make sure the phone requirements are met before making the update.  A flashable Android ROM is also available in the market to test the software before loading it on the Atrix 4G.

my ass motorola, you guys are truly disappointing. Im never buying another motorola phone having to wait this damn long to get a simple update that fixes a 4 months old broken phone that constantly restarts.

I had the same problem develop – reboots during phone calls was the straw. And the boot time on the Atrix is 2 minutes!! In addition, the phone would be HOT with the battery discharging in under 6 hours with WiFi and GPS off, little other activity, and with 4 bars of signal!

I called AT&T and they are replacing the unit – warranty is 12 months. Maybe they’ll do that for you too.

I have the Motorola Atrix and it is a great phone. Sometimes apps do crash from time to time but I think that happens on various phones because of all the variations of Android hardware. A lot of times the app developers are the ones who need to fix their app. I wish though that this phone has the latest Android version because it is one of the highest top of the line phones out there and it should be one of the first to get these updates. Motorola is a good American company and I am to support them.

I think its bs that other Droid phones already get the gingerbread update and the atrix gets put on the back burner. Clearly no love for the first dual core smart phone. And the weak nexus s gets it first. Then the weak ass thunderbolt. No love.
