Samsung Is Allowed To Sell Its Tablet In the Majority Of Europe For Now

South Korean Samsung Electronics Co. (005930.SE, SSNHY) will carry on with selling its tablet computer Galaxy Tab 10.1, usually considered the most potential competitor to Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iPad, in majority of European countries for the moment with only exception of Germany, as a German court has postponed a verdict on a preliminary injunction which has been filed by Apple.

A trial held Thursday in the German town of Duesseldorf advocated the injunction although said a promotion ban in European Union countries except Germany won’t be imposed.

The court also specified that it might lift the ban for South Korean parent company Samsung. This would forbid Samsung from selling the tablet in Germany only.

The court said a verdict will be made on Sept. 9.

Consequently, Samsung won’t be allowed to present its tablet computer at Internationale Funkaustellung in Berlin, one of the most significant trade fairs for consumer electronics, which is scheduled from Sept. 2 to 7.
