Mozilla Releases Firefox 8 With Twitter Search Option

Firefox 8Mozilla released Firefox 8 along with Twitter search option to the browser and patching eight bugs.

Since Mozilla introduced its every-six-week upgrade cycle last summer, each new Firefox has offered comparatively few noticeable changes. That held true yesterday.

The most remarkable addition to Firefox 8 was Twitter as an option in Firefox’s search bar, allowing users search for topics, hashtags as well as usernames on the micro-blogging service. Twitter search is at present available only in the English, Portuguese Japanese and Slovenian editions of Firefox.

Mozilla also assured last August to disable add-ons automatically which get installed without user approval. Following-the-back add-ons have emerged now and then; most lately in January when one bundled with Skype sources several browser crashes that Mozilla blacklisted it. If a user starts Firefox 8, all add-ons that have been stealthily installed are turned off by default.

Other modifications and improvements to Firefox 8 incorporated on-demand tab loading on startup for faster restored sessions, and developer support for other features of the 3D graphics standard, WebGL.
