No Gmail App For Blackberry Users From Nov 22 Onwards

gmail appGoogle Inc, the Android software maker for mobile phones, is planning to withdraw the support of Gmail application for rival BlackBerry smartphones has created a stir in tech industry.
The Google’s Web-based email app will no longer be available from November 22 onwards as per the announcement made by Mountain View, California-based company. Users may carry on using the app if previously downloaded, Google said.

RIM is currently struggling to find means to prevent a decline in smartphone market share as buyers more and more opt for Android devices or Apple Inc’s iPhone. The Gmail announcement comes one week subsequent to Google launched a similar app for Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices, before withdrawing it after users started getting error messages.

Google’s decision to stop Gmail app for Blackberry devices is certainly an inconvenience for BlackBerry users who would like to access those messages on the move and also a warning sign to RIM above anything else, said analyst Roger Entner.
