Apple Starts Selling Unlocked iPhone 4S In US

unlocked apple iphone 4sThe iPhone 4S is currently available from four U.S. carriers—AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and C Spire—but if you’d rather not be burdened with a 2 year contract from these service providers, Apple today officially began selling an unlocked version of the device on its Web site.

The users who wanted to avail iPhone 4S without any service contract they must know the fact that it won’t be a cheap deal. A 16GB unlocked iPhone 4S will be available at $649, while a 32GB version will be around $749, and a 64GB device will cost $849.

The black and white versions are up for sale, and Apple’s Web site at present says they will dispatch within one to two weeks.

“The unlocked iPhone works only on supported GSM networks, such as AT&T in the U.S. When you travel internationally, you can also use a micro-SIM card from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint,” Apple said.
