BestBuy Stops Selling BlackBerry PlayBook

blackberry playbook tabletWe have seen that BlackBerry PlayBook has not been able to capture customers demand as it has so many technical issues. Despite of that fact RIM has refused to discontinue the device. Now PlayBook gets another blow as Best Buy pulled its listings for the tablet as well as stopped taking further orders for the gadget.

A number of customers said they have been told that the cause for the pulling of the tablet was that Best Buy was “overextended”. Often items on the website which are backordered are usually left up if the item is expected in soon. It’s perhaps the PlayBook had a temporary success with the discount prices it has been offered at, and due to this all available stocks are just sold out.

With more rivals on the market by now and since the PlayBook hasn’t included basic functionality like native email, in its existing tablet is a very difficult to sell. There are in fact lacks at other retailers including some models of the PlayBook not offered.

Best Buy/Future Shop are completely sold-out — get some information instead of implying something you obviously know nothing about. There were line-ups at our local Best Buy and I was lucky enough to get one of the last ones — loving it!!

Perhaps you haven’t read the report thoroughly. I have already mentioned it in the 2nd para.

UPDATE: Best Buy sent an e-mail to PCWorld with the following statement:

“Customers have responded very positively to this short-term promotion available until Dec. 3 and, as a result, we are currently sold out of our inventory. We will have additional units available in the near future, at which time customers will be able to purchase the devices online at http://www.bestbuy.com.” – 11/28 3:30pm ET

    Hi, Ben
First of all I would like to thank you for the important update. But let me tell you, several users of Playbook have complained about the unavailability of Netflix, while many users are dissatisfied with its app world. According to them Playbook lacks useful apps.

Since this is a news website, it is our responsibility to provide neutral and unbiased info to our readers. Hurting the reputation of any company or brand is not intended at all.

This article was entirely rubbish. All andriod devices ship without native email. The hot new Kindle does also. The technical merits of the playbook are extensive, but the biggest advantage of ownership is that it provides a secure method of working and viewing Blackberry content by bridging to BB devices. It then allows the user to view content such as video or flash on the internet that is not available on the cellphones alone. This negates to an extent the data compression data savings that BB data compression technologies afford the user.
So bridging and viewing this content was problematic for some service providers who charged less for BB data plans and they blocked the bridging feature. Now with tiered plans this will no longer be an issue and the technical merits of the playbook becom very attractive. For an older user who no longer has to squint at emails and web content the playbook has been a boon and I highly recommend the combo to all users.
