Assassin’s Creed 3 Heads for a New Direction

In order to keep the series fresh and save it from staleness, Ubisoft has decided to take their action adventure title Assassin’s Creed 3 to a new direction. The game is set during the American Revolution in the late 18th century featuring a new protagonist named Connor Kenway. He is the son of a British soldier and a Native American woman. Conner is well versed in the art of archery and uses a Mohawk as a primary melee weapon.

Ubisoft has made many improvements to the core gameplay mechanics. This time around instead of just moving through rooftop to rooftop, players will be able to move through the forest by climbing and jumping from tree to tree adding much needed variety to acrobatics. To make the acrobatics look and feel more realistic, the developers have significantly improved the animations by incorporating motion capture technology and hiring professional acrobats. Combat has also received a  major overhaul as Conner is able to duel wield weapons, take hostage to use as shield and stab while sprinting without needing to stop. These are the few tweaks that have been made to the combat to make it fresh and thrilling.

Even in the early build, the graphic looks stunning from the highly detailed character models to expertly designed environments, Assassin’s Creed 3 truly represents a work of art. The game is powered by a new engine called Anvil Next designed exclusively for Assassin’s Creed 3. So far Assassin’s Creed 3 looks like a strong contender for action adventure of the year award. The game is scheduled to launch on October 30th 2012 for home consoles.

Do you mean a Tomahawk? You said his primary weapon was a Mohawk, but that’s the tribe.
