Intel came out from nowhere to enter into the smart phone market in India with the launch of Xolo X900. Yes, we mean from nowhere because Intel had sold it mobile chip division to Marvel back in 2006 and this is a comeback with Xolo X900 model. The mobile was available from April 23, 2012. Though the sales figure might not have much to say, the smart phone is actually a solid one for 21,999 INR. Intel had to get an association with some company to launch its mobile in India. With big guns like HTC, Samsung going different ways, it had to partner Lava to launch this Xolo X900.
– 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 CPU
– 1 GB RAM
– 16 GB Internal Storage
– 8 MP Rear Camera, with Autofocus, LED Flash
– 4.03″ 1024×600 LED backlit LCD
– 1.3 MP Front Camera
The tech specs looks good with an added advantage of being an Android phone. It comes pre-built with Android Gingerbread 2.3(might sound old after Ice cream Sandwich launch). The looks give the feel of an iPhone with more thickness and a metal finish. But certain factors like no external storage might be disappointing for few, despite the 16 GB offering. There also seems to be a compatibility issue with many apps. Intel has said it has worked upon those issues that were limited by hardware.
Overall, its a nice mobile to get for the reasonable price. Having a good configuration doesn’t matter, if they don’t deliver. But this Xolo X900 has something to deliver for the price. But still, its better to wait more time for Intel to improve upon and launch another model. It will happen soon.
