Lollipop Chainsaw Review

Lollipop Chainsaw is the latest game from the Suda 51; creator of games, such as Shadows of the damned and No More Heroes. It is a hack and slash adventure game. The best word to describe it would be “Demented”. The game is basically an arcade action game in 3rd person with zombies.

The story in the game is quite absurd as it focuses on Juliet Starling, a zombie hunting cheerleader who has devoted her life to rid the world of supernatural threats like zombies.

Lollipop Chainsaw features over the top action which, however, cannot be compared to the top games belonging to the action genre, such as Devil May Cry or Bayonetta. In Lollipop Chainsaw, there are 3 types of attacks, plus a special mode when your star bar gets full. Very little strategy is required to kill the enemies and you can get through most situations by simply hitting the control buttons. Overall it feels sort of clunky, slow and forgettable for the most part.

As with most of Suda’s games humor is an integral part of Lollipop Chainsaw and, thanks to Scriptwriter and director James Gunn, the jokes in the game will appeal to a wide array of audience. Apart from comedy, the game also features plenty of nudity as it contains a lot of up skirtshots.

Visually, the game looks pleasant, as it is full of all sorts of colors, but the animations seem a bit awkward. Overall, Lollipop Chainsaw is very short in length and is a mediocre game which gamers should avoid purchasing at the full price.
