THQ has made a shocking announcement that they have returned all rights of Devil’s Third to Tomonobu Itagaki (Games creator) and his Valhalla Game Studios.
THQ has told Eurogamer that Tomonobu Itagaki would retain all the rights to the IP. The decision was made after the publisher decided to renounce the said title. Earlier, Itagaki revealed the most recent issue of Famitsu Xbox 360 magazine which was translated by Eurogamer that he now owns the Devil’s Third IP. He also expressed his gratitude and said that he couldn’t thank THQ enough for their support on the project.
In the same interview Itagaki also revealed that the game is in a critical stage as it is nearing completion which, according to him, is the most expensive stage in a game’s development, as it takes a lot of money to advertise the product in the West to make it a success, and the amount of money required for advertisement can be equal to the development cost which did not fit THQ’s mid-term plan.
“They didn’t want to part with this IP, but we all have to see into the future and at last they did, for us,” he added.
Devil’s Third is being developed for Xbox 360 and PS3. While there is no exact release date the game is expected to release sometime in 2013.
