The Apple Inc. announced that they would re-join the environmental rating system. The decision was not a spontaneous one as they were forced to return the group by halting their product sale to governments and universities. A senior Vice president of Apple Bob Mansfield said that it was a mistake by them to leave EPEAT and their eligible products are back on track. In a statement posted at their website he said that Apple is always determined to protect the environment and they never moved from this position.
The San Francisco official reported that users refused to by Apple product after the planned to drop out from the rating system that decides the environmental impact of Electronic equipment. Some universities, including University of California that uses EPEAT for purchasing electronic goods said that they would go for a lawsuit. The spokesman confirmed that with this experience their relationship with EPEAT is stronger than ever. The chief executive of EPEAT has also appreciated Apple’s decision to come back because their creative thoughts would help this movement to evolve.

This move from Apple is welcomed.
