Announced on May 31, 2012, Injustice Gods Among us is the latest offering from NetherRealm Studios, the developers behind 2011’s Mortal Kombat. The game features iconic characters from DC universe like Superman, Batman, Flash and Solomon Grundy among many others.
Injustice Gods Among us offers a vast array of characters to choose from, each character having unique animation and move set. So far the developers have revealed only two types of character classes; 1) Heavy hitters like Superman and Solomon Grundy, 2) Gadget users like Batman and Harley Quinn.
NetherRealm Studios have come up with some interesting ideas for the gameplay of Injustice Gods Among us, like, interactive environments; players will be given the option to use objects found throughout the arena and use them against their opponents. The game also has a very interesting level design as all the stages have multiple parts and by executing a slow yet powerful attack, gamers can send their opponents crashing to the next area of the stage. The environments are somewhat destructible as well as the demo progressed further the Batcave where the fight was taking place.
Injustice Gods Among us features a fighting system that is unlike NetherRealm’s previous game. There is no block button this time around for blocking, players will just have to hold back on their joysticks. There is also a meter which is broken into four parts which can be filled by executing special moves or getting hit by the opponent. Once any part of the meter is full, players can execute a special attack that deals extra amount of damage.
Graphically, Injustice Gods Among us looks beautiful; the characters are exceptionally well detailed and the environments look amazing. Injustice Gods Among us also features a very deep and original story with unusually long cut scenes.
Overall, Injustice Gods Among us is the game that fighting game fans should keep an eye on. With deep and interesting fighting mechanics, interactive environments and breathtaking graphics, it is shaping up to be a blockbuster experience. Injustice Gods Among us is slated for a 2013 release.
