Sony Ericsson Launches Xperia X8 Android Smartphone

latest Xperia X8Sony Ericsson has recently unveiled a cut down version of its X10 flagship smart phone, named the Xperia X8 which was quite predictable. But what seems to be the most inexplicable is the fact that the mobile phone manufacturer has decided to glue to the outdated Android OS 1.6 due to some unknown reason.

The X8 is not a bad cell phone at all. It featues a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen which shows 480×320 pixel resolution, a 600MHz processor, an FM radio, a 3.2-megapixel digital camera along with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Sony Ericsson went as far as throwing in working demos of the Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation SatNav and the Neoraeder barcode scanner.

But the fact that Donut v1.6, rather than Froyo v2.2, was chosen couple with the lack of flash for the camera, makes it a poor choice especially if you compare it to other smart phones out there.

The X8 comes with a 2GB microSD card incorporated and will be available in market from the third quarter of 2010 which starts at the end of the month. As per the given information, this handset will be available in white, dark blue, aqua blue, pink and silver.
