Dead Light is an exciting 2d platformer/survival game developed by Tequila Works for Xbox live arcade. The game takes place in Seattle during mid 80’s and features post apocalyptic setting.
The plot in the game revolves around a park ranger named Randall Wayne. A single survivor trying to reach a safe house across the destroyed Seattle filled with zombies.
Unlike other games with similar setting, Dead Light’s main focus is survival having Randall only armed with few melee weapons and occasionally firearm which is extremely rare. The best possible way of surviving is running away, but as the zombies are fast moving, players will have to come face to face with them during the gameplay in which case players should try and use the environment to their advantage e.g. luring the undead right into the puddle of electrified water.
The story is narrated by Randall, the protagonist of the game, as he guides the players through his journey. During the gameplay, gamers will encounter plenty of puzzles as they are an integral part of the game and the developers are keen on making it clear by calling Dead Light a puzzle game with zombies instead of a zombie game.
The game sports beautiful graphics each stage is intricately designed and beautifully rendered making the game world that much more believable. Although the game is in 2d it has certain cinematic feel to it.
On the downside of things, the game being Xbox Live Arcade title will only offer up to 6 hours of gameplay, but the developers behind it assure the gamers that no matter the size, the experience will be top notch.
Dead Light is an interesting game to say the least, not only does it look stunning it sets itself apart from other similar games by putting more emphasis on survival and puzzle solving. Dead Light is scheduled to be released digitally exclusively for Xbox Live Arcade later this year.
