Instagram has announced that they have over eighty million users around the world and to celebrate this occasion they have released a new update of this photo editing tool. Whats noticeable in this feature is that they have omitted the find friends feature that allowed users to follow friends that they share on Twitter on Instagram. However the tweet photo feature is still available.
When inquired about it we came to know that the feature is not available due to API restrictions from Twitter’s end. It is possible that twitter has asked Instagram to shut this feature off because of the strain it puts on data strain. However some other social apps like fancy and foursquare still have access to this feature of twitter. Then again Instagram is the largest platform that uses twitter’s friend graph. But still the decision is perplexing because one of the investors of twitter is an investor of Instagram and they share some benchmark because of mutual investor.
