Apple Criticized, iPhone Interface Outdated, Says BlackBerry Boss

During an interview by the Australian Financial Review, CEO of BlackBerry, Thorsten Heins took a swipe at arch rival, Apple, saying that the operating systems running the iPhones are outdated.

BlackBerry InterfaceWhile appreciating the fantastic job done by Apple introducing top quality touch devices to the market, Heins also indicated to the lack of innovation of the iPhone user interface. The iPhones might be hugely popular, but the OS remains almost the same as it was 5 years ago.

BlackBerry is once again trying to build up its lost mark on the market by drawing customers who left BlackBerry for iPhone and later the Android phones.

The BlackBerry 10 OS is the platform of the year, but BlackBerry is facing tough times with a small collection of apps available. 70,000 available apps, a relatively small amount is a critical factor depriving the BB10 of success.

BlackBerry plans to deliver more than 100,000 apps. BlackBerry is in talks with video provider Netflix and photo sharing service Instagram and others to provide all the hit applications and the much needed ones.

Heins also added that BlackBerry is seeing tremendous progress on the sell charts as an unexpected number of Z10s, beyond BlackBerry’s assumption have been sold over the month.
