7 Things We Know About Watch Dogs, So Far

Ubisoft surprised everyone at the E3 2012 when it announced a brand new game, Watch Dogs. And now, about a year later, official details are finally being revealed. Here’s a list of things we know about the game so far:

  1. The game takes place in a large open-world based on what the developers think to be the future Chicago. In a world full of technology, players can hack into gadgets and devices for their personal gains.
  2. The main protagonist in Watch Dogs will be Aiden Pierce ― a hacking genius with a mobile phone that aids him with his cyber attacks. He is also skilled in many weapons including pistols and assault rifles.
  3. Since everything in future Chicago is connected to a supercomputer known as the “CtOS”, Aiden can simply hack into it to do various things for his advantage such as accessing other pedestrians’ bank accounts or open up electronic locks of cars. Hacking is also important while fighting criminals as Aiden can move or create cover by activating forklifts or elevators, and can even activate explosives with his device.
  4. After entering a new area, players will have little access to things that can be hacked. This issue can be resolved by attacking the CtOS control center, which is protected by some enemies. After hacking into the CtOS control center, players have access to everything in that grid of the city.
  5. Multiplayer will not be a separate mode in the game, and will revolve around planting viruses on other players’ phones while they’re playing the single player mode. A progress bar appears while a player is being hacked and this activates a mission where the victim must track down the hacker before the virus is planted. Players can turn off the mode, and it will automatically be turned off during missions.
  6. There is a companion app for the game that lets players use a phone to hack into various objects to either help or prevent them to fulfill a task. The player can call or send away a police helicopter, activate spike blockers among other things.
  7. Watch Dogs will be released in late November for PC, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. It will also be launched on Xbox One and PS4, but a release date has not been announced yet.

This is all the information we have, for now, and it will be interesting to see how this game turns out. If you have an opinion on Watch Dogs, please share it with us in the comments section.
