Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Another year and another Assassin’s Creed game has been released. We all have become used to the mechanics of the game which are now beginning to feel stale. The famous drop assassinations have no variety and you can finish an entire group of enemies just by using it. The enemy AI is still as dull as ever. The good news is, UbiSoft has given players an open world to explore but it seems too much like Far Cry 3 in third person.

Assassin’s Creed IV gameplay

It is very much like any other Assassin’s Creed game with slight tweaks to improve the movements. UbiSoft made movements in Splinter Cell: Blacklist amazing, it is hard to believe why they couldn’t achieve it in Black Flag.

The addition of Maritime Combat is a plus but doesn’t add anything too significant to the overall gameplay. The open world seems to be the best point of the game as for the first time, players will actually enjoy exploring the world. Just like Far Cry 3, players will need to craft items using whatever materials they can find from the world. This encourages further exploration.

Assassin’s Creed IV summary

Apart from the introduction of the open world, there is nothing new in this game that the franchise has already not offered. The same takedowns and strategies make the game mechanics seem old.

It is still fun to play, but don’t expect the story to immerse you into the action, because it is not very well written.
