Carrier IQ Disabled Sprint DevicesThe largest user of carrier IQ software Sprint has disabled this software on this Friday as some of the customer raised their voice against it. In an email statement the company has declared that they are no longer using this tool to collect data and they are evaluating their options. They believe that this action is taken for the best interest of the business and customers.

Sprint has been using this tool since 2006 to collect network and device related info so that they can provide quality service. Customers concern is that this software can be instructive in tracking cell phone users. But Sprint claimed that they only used it to address the dropped calls and gaps in coverage area. In their statement they made it clear that Sprint does not look at customers’ personal stuff like emails, messages, videos or photos. Anyway Sprint is the second largest company to stop this tool, first was Apple.
